Ever since I was a small person growing up in Maine, I tended to express emotions in writing. Arguments with my mom turned into poetry tacked to her door as a way to express my teenage turmoil. As I grew older, journaling became a way to process different feelings, emotions, and decisions. Language has laced throughout my education and careeer choices. From studying how children acquire language, to helping those who struggle to hear it be able to connect with their loved ones, language has been an invisible string throughout my life that has kept me grounded, connected, and inspired.
I fell in love with communication sciences and disorders in college because I was able to delve into the way in which tiny humans begin to speak, how they form ideas, and how language begins to bloom. Language and communication is what connects us to the people we love, and it's how we show ourselves to the world and ask for understanding. It's how barriers are broken and how long-lasting relationships are formed. It's magic.
I have spent most of my life helping others communicate by diagnosing and treating hearing impairment both in private practice and then working as a clinical trainer educating audiologists throughout the Pacific Northwest.
I've come back to my original love of the written word as a means of finding greater personal and professional fulfillment. Having worked in the healthcare field for 10+ years, I have a passion for working with small businesses and organizations who are doing good for their community. It's my goal to celebrate your mission while weaving in beauty, whimsy, and clarity.
